How it works

What happens between typing an address and signing a contract

Most comparison sites stop at "a specialist will call you". Here is the whole journey, including the parts that usually stay behind the counter.

  1. 1. We find your meter in the ERCOT extract

Every premises in the competitive Texas market has an ESID. We hold the public extract of all 13 million of them, so an address or ZIP is enough to identify your meter, its delivery utility (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP, TNMP, LP&L) and whether it is a commercial premise. Nothing about you is stored at this stage.

  2. 2. We read your usage — from a bill, or from you

Upload a recent bill and we extract annual kWh, peak demand and your contract end date, then work out the load-factor band suppliers price on. Prefer to type it? Enter annual kWh and, if you know it, peak kW. No demand figure means we assume medium load factor, and you can change it.

  3. 3. We price your ESID from today's supplier matrices

ENGIE Resources and NRG Business publish commercial price matrices to brokers every business morning. We import them on arrival and look up your exact utility, load zone, load factor, usage band, start month and term. The rate shown is all-in for energy and already includes United Power Group's compensation. The effective date is on the quote.

  4. 4. You enroll and sign the supplier's own agreement

One form — business details, tax ID, service and billing address, switch timing. We fill the supplier's standard agreement and a usage-history authorization, and open a DocuSign session in your browser. The price is re-checked against the day's matrix when you submit, so you never sign a stale rate.

  5. 5. The signed copy is emailed and submitted

You get the completed envelope by email. United Power Group submits it to the supplier the same day so the matrix price is honored, and the supplier confirms your enrollment and start date directly.
